So as a little gift to you, we present our run-down of the best mostly-free mostly-outdoor live music concerts going on in the city from now until the end of summer. Gather up your gang and go get your groove on, compliments of our great city. Don’t say it never gave you anything! KCRW’s Sound In Focus at The Annenberg Space for Photography (FREE) This blink-and-you’ll-miss-it outdoor summer concert series lasts only three short weeks, so be sure to get on it before it disappears! For three Saturdays in July, KCRW and the Annenberg Foundation team up to bring you free live music on the lawn of the Death Star, a.k.a. the CAA building in Century City, also home to the Annenberg Space for Photography. Free Live Music ~ Amoeba Hollywood

For music lovers, LA is a musical paradise. We are so lucky to have plenty of great live music here any night of the week. But for those times when you get tired of ticketing agencies doubling the price of your ticket, it’s nice to know that you can always find some awesome free music right outside your door. One of our favorite places to catch a free live show is Amoeba Music in Hollywood. With a great mix of bands and DJ’s coming through, including some pretty big heavy-hitters, it’s worth bookmarking their schedule and keeping it in your concert-going rotation. We recently caught a live set from Band of Horses, one of our favorite live bands. We’ve seen BOH play all over Southern California—The Masonic Lodge, The Majestic Ventura Theater, The Observatory—and they have never ceased to blow us away with their pure heart, soul and grace on stage. So when the chance came to see them up close and personal right at home, we jumped on it. There are a couple ways …

All Space Considered ~ Griffith Observatory

So, it’s time for us to come clean….we at Sirens & Scoundrels are actually big secret space nerds. How can you possibly see pictures of the cosmos (like the ones below from NASA) and not have your mind absolutely blown away by how unfathomably complex and mysterious the universe is—and how miniscule we are amongst it? How can you not be filled with an undying thirst to want to know more—how it all came to be and why we still have so few concrete answers even with all of our advancements in technology? If you have ever seriously wondered about the mysteries of the universe and our place in it, but don’t have time to go back to school for astronomy…we have something wonderful to let you in on. Once a month, the Griffith Observatory holds a free space talk. Not just a talk—but a fun, lively, often hilarious roundtable of respected scientists (seriously, we had no idea scientists could be so funny) breaking down all the latest space news in a way that we …
