Holiday Hitlist 2016

The most festive time of year has finally hit LA and we are bursting with excitement for all the joyous Holiday goodness afoot! Outdoor ice skating, Christmas light wonderlands galore, yuletide classics on the big screen and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” album performed LIVE in concert?! Our inner Buddy the Elf is already overflowing with Christmas cheer loud enough for all to hear! Grab your gang and go make spirits bright!!

Grand Performances ~ A Charlie Brown Christmas (Live in Concert)

Our favorite Christmas event of the season is back this year! Grand Performances presents The Joey Altruda Trio’s live jazz performance of Vince Guaraldi’s holiday masterpiece, A Charlie Brown Christmas, in its entirety. Performances are outdoors at California Plaza in Downtown LA and admission is free for all ages. If you bring a new or lightly used toy, it will be donated to a child in need.

Fri Dec 16th 12pm & Sun Dec 18th 2pm. Free admission. $8 parking in lot. California Plaza: 300 & 350 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90071

Pershing Square Holiday Ice Skating Rink

Nothing says winter in the city like gliding around an outdoor ice skating rink with Downtown’s skyscrapers twinkling all around you. Let your inner child out to play while you frolic the frosty night away!

Open daily through Jan 16th, 2017. $9 admission per 1-hour skate session (in advance or at ticket window). $4 skate rental. $3 lockers. Pershing Square: 532 South Olive Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Enchanted: Forest of Light at Descanso Gardens

This year’s most buzzed about Holiday offering is happening at Descanso Gardens. A stroll through Enchanted: Forest of Light promises awe-inspiring interactive light installations to fill young and old with winter wonder aplenty.

Open nightly through Jan 8th, 2017. $28 advance timed tickets. Descanso Gardens: 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011

Holiday Film Screenings

Hollywood Cinephiles can get into the Yuletide spirit with classic Holiday films hitting the big screen throughout December!

American Cinematheque ~ 

“It’s a Wonderful Life”, “Elf” & “White Christmas”

Dec 17-Dec 23. $11 tickets. At The Aero & The Egyptian

Arclight Presents: Home For the Holidays ~

“A Christmas Story”, “Home Alone” & “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”

Thurs Dec 15th 7:30pm. $11 tickets. At Laemmle NoHo 7.

Streetfood Cinema: Yuletide Cinema ~


Sat Dec 10th 8pm. 6pm doors: DJ, food vendors, specialty cocktails, holiday boutique, photo booth & Christmas carolers. $22.40 advance tickets. Million Dollar Theatre in Downtown LA.

Gingerbread House Making Party

It just wouldn’t be Christmas without our Annual Gingerbread House Making Party! Check out our recipes and tips for starting this edible artistic tradition with your friends and family! Playing with your food has never been so much fun!

Neighborhood Christmas Lights

One great thing about living in a driving city full of suburban neighborhoods: free holiday light displays galore. Lots of incredible neighborhoods go all-out each year, but these are three of our long-standing favorites. Pack up the car with some hot chocolate, carols and your favorite merry makers and take in all the magic of Christmas!
